Save your tooth. Feel better.
Root canal therapy removes infection inside your tooth to relieve pain and protect your natural smile. Our comfort-first approach uses advanced imaging and surgical microscopes for precise care.
What is root canal therapy?
Inside each tooth is soft tissue called the pulp. When it becomes inflamed or infected—often from deep decay, a crack, or trauma—root canal therapy removes the damaged tissue, disinfects the internal space, and seals the canals. The goal is to relieve pain, stop infection, and keep your natural tooth in place.
What to expect
Diagnose & plan
Focused images and testing help us identify the source of pain. Your board-certified endodontist explains findings and outlines options so you can choose confidently.
Comfortable treatment
After gentle local anesthesia, we create a small opening to remove infected tissue. Using a surgical operating microscope, we clean, shape, and disinfect the canals, then seal them (or place medication if the tooth needs additional healing).
Protect & recover
We place a temporary filling and provide clear aftercare. Your general dentist typically completes the final restoration (often a crown) to protect the tooth long-term. We coordinate closely to support a smooth handoff.
Do I need a root canal?
Infection inside a tooth can lead to persistent pain and further damage. Common signs include:
Lingering sensitivity (especially to heat or cold)
Pain when chewing or touching the tooth
Swelling or a “pimple” on the gums
Tooth discoloration
If you notice any of these, our board-certified endodontists will evaluate the tooth and discuss the best way to save it
Frequently asked questions about Root canal
Will a root canal hurt?
Local anesthesia is used to keep you comfortable. Most patients report pressure rather than sharp pain, and many feel relief once infection is addressed.
How long does it take?
Timing depends on the tooth and complexity. Molars with multiple canals generally take longer than front teeth.
Can a previously treated tooth be retreated?
Yes. If symptoms or infection recur, retreatment may be an option. We’ll assess and recommend next steps.
Are antibiotics needed?
They’re not routinely required for root canal therapy. They may be prescribed in specific cases—your clinician will advise if appropriate.
